LUX Nurse Practitioner Erin Hutcheson’s Morning Skin Care Routine
Erin Hutcheson, MSN, APRN, FPN-C, is one of our Nurse Practitioners here at LUX ~ A Medical Spa. Erin has been with LUX for more than 3 years, and has been in aesthetics for almost 10 years!
As one of our Nurse Practitioners, Erin performs various aesthetic treatments for patients here at LUX.
Erin believes that self-confidence is an important component of overall health well-being. She prides herself on listening to patients’ concerns and developing comprehensive aesthetic care plans to address the multifactorial aspects of facial rejuvenation.
One of the best ways patients can help improve their self-confidence is by taking care of their skin! Developing a daily skincare routine can help keep your skin healthy, reduce breakouts and discoloration, and overall help you look — and feel — better.
While Erin loves helping patients figure out their own skin care routines, she wanted to share her own morning skin care routine!
Erin has a normal/combination skin type: She’s prone to both dry and oily skin, and adjusts her morning skin care routine accordingly. Check it out below in Erin’s own words:
Erin’s Morning Skin Care Routine
1. Cleanser:
I rotate cleansers depending on how my skin is presenting each morning. Most days I use Lumen C & E Gel Cleanser, which is gentle and hydrating. If I am feeling oily in my T-Zone or have a pimple starting, I use Lumen Exfoliating Glycolic Cleanser (It helps dry up any pimples and leaves my skin less oily!).
2. Exfoliator:
If my skin is lightly flaking from tretinoin, I use a dime size amount of ZO® Skin Health Exfoliating Polish to physically exfoliate the dead skin cells. It leaves your skin feeling smooth, improving skin texture and cell turnover. This product is super easy to use: Just make sure your face is clean and damp, use gentle circular motions to exfoliate (usually about 30-45 seconds), and then rinse with water.
3. Toner:
I switch between Obagi Nu-Derm® Toner and Lumen Daily Brightening Pads. The Lumen Daily Brightening Pads are great for days that I don’t use the ZO® Skin Health Exfoliating Polish, as they lightly exfoliate and help brighten the complexion. These brightening pads are also great for all skin types!
4. Eye Cream:
I rotate between Neocutis Lumiére Firm Riche eye cream (which has a more thin consistency, yet is hydrating and contains growth factors) and Lumen Renew & Restore Kit for Eyes. The Lumen eye cream is more creamy and comes with Renew — for use in the AM with antioxidants and peptides — and Restore — for use in the PM, with microencapsulated retinol which is gentle enough for the delicate eye area.
5. Brightening Serum:
I use Lumen Brightening CEF Serum to help brighten my complexion, clarify my skin and provide antioxidants! This serum is great for normal to oily/acne prone skin.
6. HA Advanced Gel:
Next I use Lumen HA Advanced Gel to lock in moisture in the summer. It also helps to improve fine lines. I like to pat it into my skin rather than rub in a circular motion — and a little goes a long way!
7. Antioxidant Serum:
The last serum I use is ZO® Skin Health Illuminating AOX Serum. This concentrated antioxidant serum protects against pollution and strengthens the skin barrier, all while providing the most beautiful, luminous finish. I apply it to my face, neck and chest. (It’s even fun to apply your shoulders before an outside event!)
8. Tinted Day Cream/SPF Protection:
I use Neocutis® Journée Firm 50 ml for my tinted day cream. It provides hydration, growth factors, antioxidant protection and UVA/UVB SPF 30 protection. It is fast absorbing, non-greasy, and blends flawlessly into the skin! I also apply this one to my face, neck and décolleté.
9. Eye Area SPF Protection:
The final product I use each morning is Colorescience® Total Eye™ 3-IN-1 Renewal Therapy SPF 35. This product brightens/conceals dark circles, and the cooling applicator reduces puffiness! And, of course, it contains SPF 35 to help protect my sensitive eye area from harmful UV rays.
