How does CoolSculpting® Elite work?
CoolSculpting® Elite freezes and naturally eliminates fat cells. It is FDA approved to treat 9 areas of the body: stubborn fat under the jawline, under the chin, the upper arms, back fat, bra fat, the flank area (love handles), abdomen, thighs, and under the buttocks (banana roll).
This nonsurgical technology uses cryolipolysis — fat freezing — to freeze the fat cells in the treated area. The CoolSculpting procedure crystallizes the fat cells located just beneath the skin by freezing them. Meanwhile, this revolutionary fat reduction device protects the skin and the other tissues in the treatment area from the cold. After the treatment, the body will naturally eliminate the dead fat cells, which can result in up to 20-25% reduction of stubborn fat in the treated area.

The first step is to schedule an appointment with LUX ~ A Medical Spa’s trained CoolSculpting® technicians. For this first meeting, you should have in mind what areas of your body you’d like to focus on; make a list of questions about the treatment to ask LUX’s providers; and finally, keep in mind that you must be 18 years or older, have no disqualifying medical conditions and be interested in the 9 areas of the body covered by CoolSculpting®’s technology.
What to expect from a LUX ~ A Medical Spa personalized CoolSculpting® plan
During the consultation, LUX’s CoolSculpting® technicians will discuss the areas of your body you would like contoured and answer any questions you might have. We’ll also assess whether or not you’re a candidate for treatment and create your personalized CoolSculpting® plan, which includes the number of treatment sessions you need to see desired results.
A CoolSculpting® treatment session refers to each time you come in to LUX for a treatment appointment, which may include multiple treatments. Typically, we recommend patients receiving two or more treatment sessions to reach their body contouring goals. The average cost of CoolSculpting® Elite is $3,200.
How a CoolSculpting® Elite treatment works at LUX ~ A Medical Spa
LUX CoolSculpting® providers will take clinical photographs to help you track your progress — before, during and after the treatment. We will outline the areas to be treated and use a gel pad barrier for the applicator placed upon the skin. As the CoolSculpting® treatment begins, you might experience some pressure and an intense cold. The treatment area will become temporarily numb within 10 minutes. In general, patients have reported little to no discomfort. However, everyone has their own sensitivity. For the most part, patients like to read, check their email, watch TV or even take a nap. When the treatment is over and the gel pads are removed, LUX providers massage the area for two minutes to help break up the fat cells. Each treatment session typically takes as little as 35-75 minutes, depending on the area treated, with each session lasting 1-3 hours on average. With the CoolSculpting® Elite machine, dual applicators can treat two areas at the same time, which helps reduce the session time.
CoolSculpting® Elite continues to work after the procedure
Since CoolSculpting® Elite is nonsurgical, there is little to no downtime, which means you can go back to your day. It’s important to note that this is not a weight loss procedure and patients should maintain their usual diet and exercise routine.
Patients typically receive more than one treatment session. They can return for additional CoolSculpting® Elite treatments in 6-8 weeks. The body will naturally eliminate the frozen fat cells. It can take 1-3 months to see results and 6 months or more to experience full results.

What can I expect with CoolSculpting® Elite procedures at LUX ~ A Medical Spa?
The nurse practitioner or aesthetician positions the CoolSculpting device on the part of the body receiving treatment. After activating the device, controlled cooling begins and a variety of sensations in the treatment area may become apparent. Sensations sometimes experienced during a CoolSculpting® treatment include:
