How Fast Does Juvederm Work?
One of the most common cosmetic treatments for anti-aging purposes is a class of injectables known as dermal fillers. These dermal fillers feature a synthetic version of hyaluronic acid, an acid found naturally all throughout your body. At Lux: A Medical Spa in Bluffton, SC, we believe people of all ages should be comfortable in their own skin. Today, we are excited to answer some of our most frequently asked questions about one of our most popular cosmetic treatments. Keep reading to learn how fast Juvederm works, how long it lasts, and more.
How Fast Does Juvederm Work?
The initial results of treatment are instantaneous. As soon as it is injected, the gel spreads throughout the skin, smoothing out fine lines, wrinkles, and folds as it goes. However, it can take a few days for the gel to settle into its final position, particularly in the delicate region around the eyes.
Keep in mind, Juvederm is the gift that keeps on giving. Once the gel settles into its final position, your results will continue to improve rapidly over the course of two to three weeks. After two months, you will notice that your lines and wrinkles have disappeared completely.
How Long Do the Results Last?
The longevity of your results depends on several factors, including your health, lifestyle, how quickly your body metabolizes hyaluronic acid, and which formulation or formulations were used during treatment. Juvederm XC is the original formulation with lidocaine added. It has been clinically proven in a third-party, double-blind study to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth for up to a year.
The Voluma XC formulation was designed to re-contour the cheeks without the need for invasive cheek augmentation and will last approximately two years. Ultra XC was designed to add volume to the lips and will last at least a year. The Vollure XC formulation was the first dermal filler FDA-approved to correct facial wrinkles and folds, including nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Results from treatment with Vollure will last 18 months, a full year longer than competitors.
How Should I Care for My Skin After Treatment?
For 24 hours after your treatment, avoid any form of exercise other than walking. Vigorous exercise can cause the gel to shift outside the targeted site. For two days after your treatment, avoid NSAIDs to prevent your blood from becoming too thin. Similarly, you should avoid vitamin E supplements and St. John\’s Wort for two to three days after treatment.
