Where Should You Use Radiesse?
Aging can be a tough process to watch, especially when we’re watching our skin change. Just because you’re aging gracefully doesn’t mean you have to grin and bear those lines, wrinkles, and folds you see in the mirror. Call Lux: A Medical Spa in Bluffton, SC to talk about Radiesse.
What Is Radiesse?
Radiesse belongs to a family of injectables called dermal fillers. There are a lot of fillers on the market today, but not all are created equal. Most fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar the body makes to keep our connective tissue and skin lubricated and hydrated. As these gels are absorbed by the body, the plumping effect disappears, and about six months later you need a touch-up.
Radiesse is made of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. Once injected, it immediately adds volume to the area. This is where the work of other fillers stops.
How Does Radiesse Work?
These microspheres that are injected into areas of lost volume also act as collagen stimulators. Collagen is the fibrous protein that connects all of our skin cells and keeps them strong and our skin smooth. As the water-based gel is absorbed by our body, the microspheres stay behind to help our bodies continue to make collagen.
Over time, these microspheres are naturally and harmlessly absorbed by the body, but our new, strong collagen is still in place, providing a smooth foundation for our skin. Our wrinkles, lines, and folds will remain filled in and smooth longer than with other fillers. Results from Radiesse can last for up to 18 months.
On What Parts of the Body Can It Be Used?
Dermal fillers are most appropriate for the lower portion of the face. This is the area most affected by our loss of collagen.
Lines, Wrinkles, and Folds
When asked, most people will tell you the lines and folds on their faces are the most discouraging appearance issues they face as they age. These signs of aging can cause people to lose confidence and even dread social events like vacations, weddings, and reunions. This treatment can change all that.
This treatment is immediately effective for treating:
- Nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines
- Pre-jowl folds
- Down-turned corners of your mouth
- Chin wrinkles
Hand Rejuvenation
The second part of our body most likely to betray our age is the backs of our hands. When we age, we lose volume, making our veins and ligaments visible and giving our hands a bony appearance.
Radiesse has been approved by the FDA for use on the face and to restore lost volume on the hands. When you receive hand rejuvenation therapy, it immediately restores your hands with youthful plumpness. They will once again look soft and supple while the appearance of blue veins will be reduced.
